Are these face masks surgical or medical grade?

Our cloth / fabric masks are not medical or surgical grade.

We have not performed an analysis as to the effectiveness of the masks in a medical setting.

Therefore, other than providing the specifications, we can't make any guarantees about the effectiveness of the masks.

The Department of Health and Human Services, Victoria states "Cloth masks are any nose and mouth covering made of washable fabric. We recommend a  cloth mask made of three layers of a mix of breathable fabrics to ensure adequate protection. It does not need to be surgical quality to be effective".

Where do you source your face masks from?

Our face masks are proudly made in South Africa, where we work closely with two key partners to bring you our Active Collection and Resort Collection ranges.

Cape Town was once a hub for clothing manufacturing, and the talent in this industry still remains.

Our Resort Collection is carefully designed and produced by Christiaan and Jinae from Matsidiso, who specialise in ethically and sustainably hand crafted, artisan shoes, bags and accessories.

Matsidiso is a Sotho name which translates to blessings/comfort after difficulty, which is something we can all hope for and strive to cultivate.

Matsidiso use their platform to build awareness around and raise money toward important socio-economic matters in Africa. They are on a mission to break the chains of the destructive mass production cycle, educate their local and global community around sustainability and to aid their team with the right skills and salaries so that they can live more empowered lives.

Needless to say, we are so happy to work with such a wonderful young couple, doing amazing things.
